EMR Go Live Support Success: Piedmont Athens Regional

“I'm not sure there's such thing as a ‘typical’ Go Live,” says Delena Brockmann, Executive Director of the Oconee Health Campus at Piedmont Athens Regional in Athens, Georgia.

When the cutover occurs, facilities transitioning to a new electronic medical records system are abuzz with activity and consultants and lots of questions from providers and staff.  “It’s wild,” says Brockmann with a smile.

Healthcare IT Leaders was the Go-Live support partner to Athens Regional (now Piedmont Athens) in its transition to its Cerner Ambulatory EMR. Our support consultants and an onsite project manager worked directly with Delena and Cerner to prepare the staff to transition to the new system—and to troubleshoot user issues after the initial cutover.

Brockmann’s advice to other health systems looking for a Go Live partner is to choose a firm “you can build a relationship with.” Athens Regional found just such a partner in Healthcare IT Leaders.

“As important as it was for us to have success, it was equally important for them. And they knew if we were successful, they were successful,” says Brockmann.

“I’m incredibly thankful for how much (Healthcare IT Leaders) made my job easier when we were working together.”
