It all started with one tree in 2010.
Then, Healthcare IT Leaders' Chief Marketing Officer Alex Gramling gave a tree to a struggling family during the holidays. He was so moved by their joy and gratitude that he decided to help other deserving families meet this seasonal need. With help from enthusiastic friends (like board members and principals Bob Bailey and Ted Justiss) and supporters, Christmas Tree Santas was launched in 2011.
In its first year, Christmas Tree Santas gave away 300 trees in the Boston area and Atlanta, and the whole company gets involved each year, sometimes while it rains or snows. Our staff, their spouses and children tie trees to cars, hand out ornaments and tree stands and wish each family Merry Christmas.
This year, the non-profit will give away its 3,500th tree, sharing hope, joy and Christmas trees to brighten the holidays. The video above tells the story of the Christmas Tree Santas and Healthcare IT Leaders, one of its founding sponsors.
